A wonderful time was had at iExploreSTEM at I'll Make Me a World

On celebration day, kids and their families flooded a model city, met animals from Blank Park Zoo, built gumdrop towers, extracted strawberry DNA, learned how simple math skills could be used to save them money, and got to do many other hands-on activities.

During education day, Iowa middle and high school students competed for start-up funds to begin their own business in the Pitch and Win competition.  Students had 3 minutes to pitch their idea to Des Moines business leaders and 5 minutes to answer their questions.

Living with Floods

iExploreSTEM Des Moines is part of Living with Floods, a statewide project to commemorate recent flood events and celebrate progress toward recovery in Iowa. The project will culminate in Des Moines on June 7 with a free public performance by the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
